Our mission is to fly Charleston area veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, to Washington, DC to visit the memorials built to honor their service and sacrifices. As our program launches and flight capacity is limited, priority may be given to senior veterans and those facing serious health challenges.

Our goal is to honor as many veterans as possible as the program grows and future flights are added.

There is no cost for veterans to participate in a Charleston Honor Flight mission. Transportation, meals, and planned activities during the trip are provided through donations, sponsorships, and community support.

Charleston Honor Flight missions are expected to depart from the Charleston International Airport. Additional details and schedules will be provided to selected participants prior to each mission.

Charleston Honor Flight is funded entirely through donations from individuals, businesses, sponsors, and community supporters. Veterans never pay for their participation. Every mission is made possible by people who want to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.

To ensure as many veterans as possible can participate, Honor Flight trips are reserved for veterans and approved volunteer guardians only. Each veteran is paired with a trained guardian who provides assistance and support throughout the day. While family members are not permitted to travel on the flight, they are encouraged to participate in send-off and welcome-home celebrations.

Guardians are trained volunteers who accompany veterans during the trip to provide assistance, companionship, and support throughout the day. Guardians help ensure that every veteran has a safe, comfortable, and meaningful experience.

Honor Flights are designed as one-day missions. Veterans typically depart early in the morning and return home later the same evening. The day includes visits to military memorials and other significant sites in Washington, D.C..
